I am saddened to see that no one, including myself, posted comments. Jan was my dear friend. She had the sweetest soul. In high school she was friend to all, popular or not. Jan could make you laugh like no else. She was brilliant. I am trying to find her obituary to post. Jan married her college sweetheart, Joe Sullins. She & Joe attended SW Tx State. They had two children, Matthew & Sarah. Joe passed away in his mid 30's of a heart attack. Jan, being the survivor she was went on working & caring for her family. Jan married Alan Johnson in her late 30's & moved to Jacksonville, Tx. When Jan was in her 30's she received a blood transfusion from a surgery & contracted Hepatits B which was not diagnosed after she married Alan. She remained under her doctors care until which time she underwent a liver transplant in Dallas at Baylor in early 1990 . She remained on anti rejection medications & went between home & Baylor. She was unreconizable as we all knew her. She was at peace with her life & had no regrets. Jan was layed to rest on August 28, 1990. Mona Byley Owens, Marlana Wilder Stefacin & I attended her funeral. Matthew & Sarah were 16 & 14 when she passed. They lived with Alan until they went to college. They loved Alan so much & maintained there close relationship to him. This wonderful beautiful creature touched my life in ways that no one will ever know. She was a devoted mother, wife, daughter & FRIEND. She is always in my heart & on my mind. I am forever changed by her presence in my life. There is so much I want to share about Jan. Tears & deep emotion fill me. Maybe another time.
I did not know Jan Beavis in high school--we had such a huge class. After reading Karen's touching tribute to her, I wish I had. She sounds very special.
