Karen Siddal Bates was born February 15, 1951 and went home to be with the Lord on July 21, 2014. Karen was born in Cisco, Texas, raised in Houston, and resided in Sugar Land. An Elder in the Presbyterian Church, she loved working with youth as she and her husband were youth advisors for 12 years mentoring many young boys and girls on their Christian journey. She loved reading books, going to the beach, and rock-n-roll music. A graduate of Spring Woods High School, Karen worked many years for a group of pediatricians. She was the most loving and compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother (Mimi). Preceded in death by her father Robert Siddall, mother Lala Siddall, and nephew Rob Siddall, Karen will be missed by the many lives she touched. She never met a stranger and always wanted to help those less fortunate in need. She is now living her long dream with God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Married for 42 years, she is survived by her husband Rick, daughter Kacy Bates Watkins, and husband Wes, brother Rick Siddall and wife Michal, sister Dana Siddall Barrett and husband Fred, grandson Preston Watkins (her little butter bean), and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
There will be a celebration of Karen's life Saturday, July 26 at 2 pm. The service will be at First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land, 502 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, Texas 77478. Fellowship at the church will follow the service. Reverend Fred Seay officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Fort Bend Women's Center which Karen supported throughout the years.
