Sherri Diane Chaney May 3, 1951 - July 2, 2019 Sherri Diane Chaney, resident of Katy Texas, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, after a hard fought battle with cancer. Sherri was born in Houston, Texas on May 3, 1951 to Ralph and Lavon Pitzer. On June 12, 1970, she married the love of her life, Mark Chaney. They had two sons, Micah Daniel and Matthew Joseph. Sherri had tremendous love for her family and friends. Often you would find her in the kitchen cooking for her loved ones. You could always depend on Sherri to make you a big pot of chicken and dumplings when you were not feeling well. If you asked Sherri, she would probably tell you her greatest accomplishment in life was being Grammaw. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events, plays and art events. She loved having her grandchildren over for Sunday lunch after church. Sherri was a longtime, faithful member of the Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Mark Chaney; her son, Micah Daniel Chaney and his wife Nikolle; her son, Matthew Joseph Chaney and his wife Rebecca; her three grandsons, Cole, Garrett and Wyatt Chaney; her two granddaughters, Kailey and Rachel Chaney; and her brother, Mike Pitzer and his wife Debby. Sherri will also be remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service to honor Sherri will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, with Mr. Owen Campbell officiating.
