Karen D Stewart

Karen Dean Stewart was born September 9, 1950 to John Edward Stewart & Janice Dean Stewart in Houston, Texas. Karen left to be with her Savior Jesus on June 24, 2025.
She graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1969 where she flourished, becoming president of Senior Girls and Thespian Club as well as numerous other clubs and honors. She was an accomplished actress, performing in all plays and musicals. She attended Lon Morris Junior College winning Best Actress in the State of Texas Competition in 1970. She completed her college education at Southwest Texas State University in 1975, earning a Bachelor's with a teaching certificate in Speech and English.
She was a much-loved teacher for 34 years with the Aldine ISD and Comal ISD. She opened so many young lives to the beauty of Shakespeare, drama, grammar, and poetry. Of utmost importance to Karen was her relationship with Jesus, whom she chose to follow in 1977. Upon retirement, Karen became an integral part of numerous Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, and other ministries at her church, Fellowship Bible Church of New Braunfels.
She is survived by her sister Jonni Doeppenschmidt, niece Amy Davis and husband Gabe, nephew Lawrence Doeppenschmidt and wife Flavia; surrogate son Wayne Whitaker and wife Susan; great nephews and nieces: Rhegan Davis and wife Sara, Kymeri Davis, Isaya Davis and wife Cherokee, & Abigayle Louis and husband Andrew; great nieces Sofia and Amelia Davis, surrogate grandsons Travis and Jordan Whitaker, cousins Holly Harrell (Hubert), Michael Heck (Cheri), David McNally (Amy) and children. Most precious to her are the caring and loving Christian family of Fellowship Bible Church of New Braunfels.
Visitation will be 11am – 2pm on Thursday, June 26 at Lux Funeral Home. Private burial will be with the family on Friday, June 27 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Pall Bearers will be Gabe Davis, Lawrence Doeppenschmidt, Isaya Davis, Andrew Louis, Michael Heck, Wayne Whitaker, Travis Whitaker, and David Slimpin. A Celebration of Life will be held at Fellowship Bible Church of New Braunfels, 4026 Morningside Drive, New Braunfels, Texas on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Karen's name to be sent to New Braunfels Fellowship Bible Church Missionary Fund.
