Don was a truly decent guy and one of the hardest working people I have ever known. He was a man with good common sense and instincts. I met Don at Spring Woods in early September 1965 on the first day of our freshman year when we were assigned seats next to each other in homeroom. We became best friends over the following four years and maintained a friendship that lasted for many more. After leaving high school and a stint in the Navy, Don renewed acquaintances with Rosemary Siekmann and they married. Don and Rosemary were there for me during the worst time of my life and I really don't know how I would have made it though without them. It is impossible to ever thank them enough for that. Even though life eventually took us in different directions so that we lost connection, knowing that Don is gone leaves a hole in my heart.
