Age 50, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2001. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, September 17, 2001, between the hours of 5:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 18, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. in John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2525 Gessner. Interment will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

Patti was a sweet, shy, and sensitive girl, I didn't get to know until our senior year. I've forgotten what class it was where we shared our secrets, but I always kept them...and always will. She had a big smile, and a twinkle in her eye for me, and I'll never forget that.Donna Ann Brewer (Jackson)
I only recently learned about the tragic death of Patti King. I knew Patti from 1st grade at Hollibrook Elementary. She was in my mother's Brownie/Girl Scout troop. Our parents played in a weekly bridge club together from 1978-1962. Although we went out separate ways in high school, I will always remember Patti's smile. It was so beautiful and so generously shared. Her brother Cullen let me know that Patti was addicted to meth for decades. After breat cancer in 1998, he felt she was doing much better with this situation. Sadly, a physician prescribed her the highly-addictive muscle relaxer, Soma. Knowing her history, this doctor should have put her on an alternate medication--there are many. How tragic for Patti's mother June to see her only daughter overdose in Rx drugs in their home. How tragic for all concerned and for all of US. Teach your children well; the danger is greater than ever.
