Judy and Lyle: Thanks so much for all you two have done to keep our group together for the past 40 years -- I know it has not been easy.

I think this is a fabulous website and hope that lots of people will use it.

Hope to see you soon.

While you are sifting your sixties memories, tropicalglen.com, is a jukebox that lets you play any years top songs as background. happy day mjs
P.S.- Don't know how long this has been available, but I just discovered you can Google/maps, type in your old address and take a virtual 360 degree tour of the neighborhood.

Lyle and Judy, I agree with Leanne. You guys have done a fantastic job of creating this website and keeping our class together over the 40 years since we graduated. Your dedication and organizing of the reunions is very much appreciated. As the "In Memory" list grows, so does the importance of getting together from time to time with our fellow classmates to reminisce about old times and lend support where needed. I have really enjoyed the new website, and from the looks of it, so have many other classmates. Keep up the good work. Thanks again for your dedication. Keith

Lyle and Judy,

What we have done all these years without you....fade with only the memories that we could remember. Instead you kept us in touch and let us all jog each other's brains and laugh.
Thank you for everything.

What a wonderful web site this is. I have found myself checking it regularly (obsessively?) to look for new profiles from my classmates. They all make for fascinating reading – I have read every one of them. I think it’s safe to say we’re a very diverse group and have led interesting lives. I especially enjoy the photos. I hope that everyone who hasn’t entered a profile yet will do so (and that those who have posted a profile will update them with even more information).

Someone in their profile said that this is not the forum for introspection and self-analysis, but I think it is. I think it’s a perfect time to reflect on our lives and appreciate each other and how far we’ve come. It’s also an appropriate time to remember all the classmates we’ve lost.

Special thanks should go to Judy and Lyle for their tireless dedication and efforts to keep our class and reunions organized. I can only imagine how much work it requires.

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.

First, we are not old! We are older. Yes, some may be bald...some may have put on a few pounds...most have a few more wrinkles...some have gray hair...some have saggy arms/butts...some may be having short lived memory problems! You know what? We earned it. We are still hanging in there Life is for the living. If you have good health, loving families and friends...you have it all! Every day smile at someone or perform a random act of kindness. Life is not about me or you. I have learned that it is about everybody else and how you treat friends, family and strangers. Trust others first unless they give you a reason not to. I am so blessed to still have friends I can see every five years, family and friends. Wake up each day and think about what you can do for others. As they say, " What goes around comes around." (As long as you have the correct motive!) Hope to see you sll there. We will have a blast from the past! Take care.

I love this website. I have spoken by email to friends from school that I have not talked to in years. It makes you feel young again when you reminisce about days long past and what has been happening since. Thank you Judy and Lyle for all of the work you have done to put this together. It is awesome.

Dear Judy and Lyle,

I attended last nights reception for our Class of '69 and enjoyed it very much and I am looking forward to the Class Dinner tonight. It becomes very obvious how much work, effort and love you two put into this event. It gave me an opportunity to visit with classmates I have not talked with in 40 years. I didn't get to talk with them all, but I certainly plan to by the end of the evening tonight. Your reunion committee deserves a great deal of thanks.

Love always,
Donna

Thank you Lyle and Judy.

And thank you to each and everyone of you that attended and made the 40th Reunion a great success. It was an incredible turn out and a wonderful weekend. I hope to see all of you again in 5 years (if not sooner). Let's all continue to round up even more of the Class of 1969!

What a great time I had at the reunion! I was so shy in high school and was worried that no one would remember me or talk to me. Silly me! Everyone was so nice and made me feel so welcome. I talked to old friends and made new ones, though I think some people were surprised at how I had changed - gone from shy to "chatty Cathy". Now I don't stop talking. Thank you Ben Mayberry for all your compliments. You saw me as "pretty" long before I blossomed. Thanks to everyone else who made me feel so welcome and part of the group. Your compliments put a smile on my face that will last to the next reunion. I hope we will all keep in contact.

A million thanks to Lyle and Judy. Your hard work is truly a labor of love . Your continued dedication to the class of '69 is amazing!

Both nights of the reunion were so much fun for me! I talked to several people, that like myself had considered not attending. But, after getting on the website realized there was still a genuine bond of friendship with many people after all these years. I'm glad I went and am looking forward to the next reunion or whatever occasion comes first. Let's stay in touch.

Love to all,
Sherry

In my entire life I've never talked as much during a twenty-eight hour period as I did this past Friday and Saturday nights. My throat was actually getting sore around 9:00 PM Saturday evening, so I just sat down and watched as all my former classmates renewed old acquaintances and made new ones. I spoke with many who were good friends of mine during high school, some who became good friends after high school, and some who I only knew by name during those years. What I consider awesome about our new website is that it has enabled me to know more about the lives of each and every one of you than I could possibly learn during our once every five years reunions. I hope everyone continues to update their profiles as major events occur in their lives. I've seen quite a bit of activity since Saturday night, so that's encouraging. And please, as Lyle and Judy requested, contact anyone you know the whereabouts of from our class who has not created a profile, and encourage them to do so. I’m working on Randy Sumrall, Rick Wilmeth, Rod Burcaw, and Steve Downie right now, and have several more I’m trying to hunt down. I saw where Nancy Steele joined Classmates.com recently, so I've sent her the link to our website.

I especially enjoyed talking with Doug Armstrong and Randy Smitheal Saturday evening. What an inspiration they both are.

Lyle and Judy, it can’t be said enough, “Thanks for all the work you’ve done to hold our class together”. It’s difficult to imagine, but we’ll be 62/63 the next time a reunion rolls around. That makes this website all the more important.

Take care everyone

THANK YOU so much Judy and Lyle. The event was so much more than I expected. It was so good to vist with all my fellow classmates and their spouses. I had misgivings about coming, but as soon as I walked in the door they were gone. We had the most caring, fun and kind class and I am so glad I was able to attend high school in such a great era. I will always remember my high school days with great fondness.
Love you all, Kathy Lann Pomikahl

Judy & Lyle,

First of all thanks for all your hard work not only on the reunion but setting up this web site. The 40th reunion was great and I am already looking forward to the 45th! It was wonderful seeing many old friends again and hearing what they were doing.

Again, thanks for all that you have done for the Class of 69!

I started this note at 5 AM the Monday morning after the reunion and am just now getting back to it...

Dear Lyle, Judy, Caroline, Tommy, and Committee members,

The 40th Reunion was WONDERFUL! Absolutely! The venue, the schedule, the food, the ice sculpture and mostly the people…all of it! Thank you, thank you, and thank you!

I am so sorry I didn’t get a chance to sit down and talk to everyone who attended the reunion. I should be a professional greeter. Is there such a thing?? I absolutely wanted to talk to all of you. If I had not run out of steam, I would have sat down at every table and asked you how you were? I talked to as many people as I could on Friday until I needed to rescue my poor husband, take him home, and get him to bed; and Saturday night I talked, talked, and talked until I hit the wall. Many of you have a lot more staying power at almost 60 than I do. At some point, I realized I could no longer put two thoughts together and had to call it a night, and that was with just one glass of wine in me.

But, before my brain dead experience, I had so many stimulating, memory gendering conversations, and some squeals and quick hugs, and I am still thinking about them all, praying for you and thinking how I might touch base with those who I did not get to sit down and visit with. That would be why I am up at 5 in the morning on this crazy computer.

I hope I don’t seem in-genuine in saying I am thinking of you and praying for you, but I really am. As I have opened profiles I count it a pleasure to pray for you and yours. I didn’t know a lot of you in 1969, but I am getting to know you through this wonderful website. Loved seeing you...can't wait til the next one!

And, if you have not read Vonnie Hooks entry about the reunion on her profile page, take the time to read her sweet comments.

Well, anyway, dear ones. God bless you and keep you. Dana

To Lyle, Judy and committe members:

Having the opportunity to share some old stories and past events with our class members, I feel supplies the energy our system needs to look forward to our 45th. Ya'll really did a great job as others have indicated in this forum and everyone I spoke with gave you guys and gals a thumbs UP!!

To the class of 1969:

I too did not get a chance to get around to all of those tables but what I saw across the room was alot of great friends just getting down with what life is all about!!!!

It was GREAT to see everyone and look forward to the 45th.

I put some pictures of alot of the planning committe members from some of the meetings on my profile page. I've included pictures from the alumni evaluation mtg in June 2009 and the swim party in July 2009.

Greetings:

I enjoyed the reunion tremendously, as always, but I have one complaint: I looked up around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday and many of you had already left or were on your way out!

Please, the next time around, go into training, and then rest up for several days before the reunion so that you have better stamina. :-)

The weather here in Boston is still cool and wet. I appreciated having the opportunity to come to Houston and perspire.

Keep a good thought. -- Bill

Judy,
I was saddened to read of your Mom's passing this morning. So many of us have lost parents the past few years. It was one of the main topics of conversation at the reunion. We lived in friendly, close neighborhoods in "old Spring Branch." Our friends' parents were also parents to us: playing in their big back yards, slumber parties, attending extra-curricular events together, Girl and Boy Scout campouts, etc. It was a very special time...our post-war parents and families had a unique experience. Judy, your Mom lives on in you. Your selflessness and generosity are a reflection of her, as well. Much love, Linda Freed Klinger
